Collection Horror Vacui by Viviana Sorrentino
The S/S 26 Horror-vacui collection is inspired by wunderkammern, the “cabinet of curiosities.”
Emptiness has always been ambivalent: on the one hand, it conveys space and freedom, on the other, the unknown. Horror-vacui, or “terror of emptiness,” is the tendency to fill every possible surface with decorations, symbols, materials, or colors, assuming an existing value.
Mystery and therefore uneasiness resides in emptiness. Filling it with excess is a form of defense to avoid asking questions like “Who am I?” or “What lies beyond the appearance of things?”
Today’s world fears silence. An era that demands constant visibility.
Silhouettes highlight the feminine line, lending momentum to the figure; there is a reference to the exotic and opulent. Colors gradually change from dark to lighter, emphasizing a positive evolution: the individual rediscovers harmony with themselves.
The accessories recall the world of wunderkammern, exotic objects such as tarot cards or the addition of silicone corals.
